Book club kits, custom-created bags of books and accompanying materials designed for book clubs, provide convenience for local book groups and in-roads for connecting with engaged patrons. Three libraries, at different stages of circulating kits, with different levels of funding, share their experiences. The Darien Library has 200 titles and thriving community connections since starting in 2004. Belmont began in 2012, and Norwood, just this year. Panelists will share advice for funding, cataloging and processing, policies, marketing, and promotion. Attendees will learn and ask questions about benefits, challenges, and finer points of launching book club kit programs.
