David Sok is the Information Technology Manager at Providence Community Library (PCL), where David manages and oversees the installation, maintenance, and support for all computers, Internet networks, and telephone systems. Between 2012 and 2014, David brought forth new patron services and programs such as: "Borrow the Internet," a service which offers patrons the ability to check out Internet hotspots, and the installation of PCL's Minecraft Server and its client software on all children's lab computers. PCL went on to win the first "International Minecraft Hunger Games" during International Games Day 2014. From 2015 to 2016, David worked with staff to form partnerships with: StoryCorps to produce "StoryCorps @ Your Library," an oral history project, and provide technology support for PCL's bookmobile during Providence's "Passport to Summer Learning," a summer reading initiative for Providence Schools. Last year, in 2017, David developed the "Computer Builders'" workshop, in which youths and teens are trained to build computers and replace the libraries' aging and old computers.
